Each family has a coaster to place their glass for the day!

Shazam! I love this idea! Why didn't I think of it??? Isn't the one from Bee In Our Bonnet adorbs? Mine is nowhere near as sophisticated as that, but just as effective- small saucers that I purchased for $3 at Target. That is $3 for the whole set, on clearance. Here they are.
These are perfect for what I need them for. First of all, they are each different, so I designated a saucer for each family member (not including our 5 year old, his cups are easy to keep separate), second, these are plastic, so they won't get broken. And I think they are cute! When we have company, I can just put them away! So I have them out for every day, and if we entertain, I put them away. Easy peasy!
Here is a view of them in the background just to give you an idea of where they are. The wall back splash behind them looks totally transformed now, can't wait for the big reveal! And the island got a little tweak yesterday too. I'll show you soon.
I know many of you have this same problem, right? Well, here is your answer! You can make something like the one I found on pinterest, or just go the simple and easy route and get some cheap little saucers that will do the trick!

So simple, but so smart! Just imagine the decrease in dishes to wash! Great post!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bonnie! The amount of times per week that we run the dishwasher per week has decreased since I implemented this! That was the goal!
DeleteThis is a great idea! I don't have a large family (just me and my guy) but we each use 3-4 cups and glasses a day. I think I might try this idea and try to cut down on dishes!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI found you today from Young House Love's Pinterest Party where I'm #584. I'd love for you to stop by my blog and leave a comment, too!

DeleteHi Megan! This idea has cut down on dirty dishes for us for sure! I visited your blog, left a comment, and started following! Thank you for visiting m blog!
AS a family of 7 this was one of my biggest pet peeves. I got everyone glasses with their initial on it-luckily they are all different. We used Tervis tumblers but there are lots of options out there. I even got one for my mom when she came to visit because she was worse than the kids-LOL! You could do colors or design to differentiate. I got rid of most of the glasses we had & moved a few glasses to a high out of the way cabinet in the dining area if we have guess-otherwise these are the only glasses we have. I forund your blog from link up at I heart organizing.
ReplyDeleteEven know your solution was different than mine, it sounds like you found a solution that works for you! Awesome! Thanks for the comment.
DeleteGreat idea. Even if just I did this . . . What a difference. New follower from IHeartOrganizing.
